1. Who is responsible for your information
Design Systems Department (“DSD”, “we”, “us”) is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Privacy questions or requests may be sent to hello@designsystemsdepartment.com.
2. Information we collect
When you open the Product Scale Score, we assign a random session identifier and record assessment milestones such as starting, answering questions, completing a capability, and generating a report.
During the assessment, your organization context, answers, and saved progress remain associated with that session. After the questions are complete, we ask for your name, email address, and consent preferences, then use the combined information to generate and deliver your private report. We calculate and store your overall score, dimension scores, maturity level, diagnostic findings, and recommended roadmap.
When you use the website, Vercel Analytics may collect limited technical and usage information such as pages viewed, device or browser category, referral information, and interaction events. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the assessment.
3. Why we process it
We process assessment information to save and restore progress, calculate and display results, create a private report, generate downloadable PDFs, deliver the report by email, send one service reminder after 24 hours of inactivity when an assessment remains incomplete, respond to your questions, improve the assessment, prevent abuse, and—only when separately requested—send occasional DSD insights.
4. Retention
Assessment milestones, incomplete progress, contact details, organization context, answers, and completed reports are retained for up to 90 days and are then deleted through the application’s expiration process. A local copy of progress may also remain in your browser until you finish, start over, clear browser storage, or the browser removes it.
5. Private report links
Each report uses a long, randomly generated private URL. The URL is not intended for search indexing, but anyone who receives it can view the report until it expires. You should share it only with people you trust.
6. Service providers
We use service providers to operate the website and assessment, including Vercel for hosting and analytics, Neon for database infrastructure, Resend for transactional email, and Google Calendar for appointment scheduling. These providers may process information in other countries under their own security and privacy commitments.
7. Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to operate the assessment, when you direct us to do so, when required by law, or when necessary to protect the security and integrity of our services.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including server-side environment variables, randomly generated report tokens, token hashing, limited retention, and transport encryption. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
9. Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your information before the 90-day expiration period, or withdraw optional marketing consent, by emailing hello@designsystemsdepartment.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
10. Assessment disclaimer
The Product Scale Score is a directional diagnostic based on self-reported information. It is not a certification, legal opinion, or guarantee of organizational performance.
11. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the assessment or our providers change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version.
